I noticed mentions of subscriptions in the post about Quadro. This is, frankly, somewhat worrying. In what way is Quadro going to be subscription based? Or have I got the worng end of the stick?
thanks for your question. Quadro will be free to download and use with built-in presets, but will have indeed a premium subscription, which is optional and exclusively related to the customization of the interface and automatization of operations (macros).
We are evaluating a pay-once-and-use-for-life option, but since the very steep costs of development and maintenance it can sum up to an high number.
Please notice that the subscription model is not just the last trend to get more money from users, but a truly sustainable solution for keeping alive a software like Quadro, which already have planned almost 5 years of future implementations, and already counts over 3 years of development.
Actions, which has a different model, never covered for its costs and never gave us the ability to evolve it quickly. If we didn’t have the luck of finding investors Quadro would have never seen the light, and Actions would already have left the AppStore, although already counting half a million users.
For this reason we had to find a sustainable model to make Quadro, and all its future instances, possible. We would love to have a way to give Quadro for free to anyone, but I still have to find it. :)
Don’t worry tho, the subscription fee won’t be costly. Anyway, you can get 6 free months of premium scheduling a tweet on http://quadro.me/pioneers
