Connect to 2 Actions servers?

Karl Apr 23, 2014 09:14PM UTC

I have a Windows virtual machine, which I am successfully controlling after following your tutorial. However, I'd really like to be able to seamlessly control both the Windows and Mac sides from one set, or at the least, easily (and quickly) swap between them. Any suggestions?

Hello Karl,

unfortunately there is no current solution to quickly swap between different Os, nor control different computers from a single set as for now.

I’ll be glad to save this as feature request, and to give it more weight would be greatly helpful to have a specific use case.
Would you mind telling me in which scenario you would use this feature? Thanks anyway…

Sorry I couldn’t help you further,

Hi Cristiano,

I'm a software developer, and my two main development tools are Windows only, so I run two monitors, one with my Windows virtual machine, and one with my Mac OS. The Mac side tends to be my 'personal' stuff - email, iTunes, web, whereas I keep the Windows side lean. I'd love to be able to use Actions to seamlessly control both iTunes on the Mac side, and Visual Developer on the Windows side. Right now I can connect to one or the other. Seamless would be perfect, but even some sort of action to swap to another computer might work?

Hi Karl,

thanks a lot for your explanation, now I absolutely get what you’d like to do, and why… ;)

I like your idea of an action that switches connected computer, I’ve added to the feature requests list (multi-os sets are already there, but it’s fairly complicated for the current architecture), I hope we can push it in the roadmap but could be not really soon.

Thanks again Karl,
